Outlets, plugs, adapters and voltage in Peru

Electricity in Peru

Private tours in Lima with Sara offers here information about outlets, plugs, adapters and voltage in Peru.

Voltage

Voltage in Peru is 220 Volts and 60 H.

Be aware that in USA the voltage is between 110 and 120 volts AC.

Electrical outlets

Before you travel check the voltage of your appliances. Your laptop, hair dryer, curly iron or electric shaver may not fit for dual voltage (110-220). In that case if you plug them into a 220 volts outlet they will start to smoke and get damaged. You may need a power adapter.

If you are staying in a high class hotel most probably there are outlets for 110 V so better check first before you get ready to buy one.

If you come from a European country, Australia, India and any other country where voltage works between 220 and 250 V then you will have no problem.

Plugs

There are two types of plugs used in Peru. These are:

  • Type A

    Plug A
    Plug A

It has two flat parallel prongs as used in USA, although sometimes type A there has a slightly wider end. It will not be possible to use that kind of plug here.

  • Type C

    Plug C
    Plug C

It has two round prongs as used in most European countries except UK where a plug with three prongs is used.

Check whether your devices use a different type of plug than the ones mentioned above. If so, the wisest thing is to buy a universal adapter before you travel.  They are economic and easy to carry. If you forgot to pack one you can always get it at an electrical appliances shop at the airport.

We hope this information is useful for you.
