Huaraz is a city in the Peruvian Andean region. LIMA TO HUARAZ BY BUS

Buses from Lima to Huaraz take 8 hours and 30 minutes.  Note that Lima does not have a Central Bus Station.  You have to take the bus from the terminal of each company.

The most reliable bus lines for your trip from Lima to Huaraz, with very comfortable, modern and full equipped double-decker buses are:

Oltursa  Buses leave daily at 12:15 hs from Av. Aramburú 1160, San Isidro.  Tickets for a round trip on a VIP Bus Bed are approx. US$ 45.

Cruz del Sur  They have 4 daily departures from Av. Javier Prado 1109, La Victoria. From these, 3 are overnight trips leaving between 21:30 and 22:30 hs. They arrive at 8:30 in the morning. Tickets for a round trip are about US$ 55.

They are at the Huascaran National Park, 2 hours and a half by car from Huaraz at 3,850 mts a.s.l. (12,631 ft) The entrance ticket to the park is about US$ 4.  The park is between two wonderful snow-capped mountains and the lakes are stunning turquoise water mirrors.

The remains of a mysterious and highly advanced pre-Inca culture dating back to almost 3000 years ago. A very worth to see archaeological site declared Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO.  This is a stone-made complex with temples, squares and an impressive monolith of almost 16 ft high (5 mts) with sculpted mythical figures. It is advisable to take a tour leaving very early in the morning since it takes about 3.5 hs from Huaraz. Better do it once you are acclimatized since you will reach a pass above 14,763 ft (4,500 mts) from which you have an impressive view of lake Querococha. Then you go down to 10170 ft (3100 mts) to reach the complex.
